The Trust Equestrian sweet iron bit with a full cheek and jointed mouthpiece is suitable for all horses to help improve the communication between rider and horse.

A jointed bit has one hinge point, which means less pressure on the tongue than with a elliptical mouthpiece. A jointed mouthpiece exerts pressure mainly on the layers, the side of the tongue and can also have an effect on the palate. A jointed mouthpiece is seen as a standard mouthpiece.

The Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognizable blue colour. Sweet Iron will rust when it comes into contact with (air) humidity, the surface rust tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the saliva production. This will cause the horse to salivate more, which in turn will encourage a better acceptance of the bit. The process of rusting (oxidation) changes the blue colour of the TRUST bits to a brownish-grey. This is the desired effect of the Sweet Iron bits. If a Sweet Iron bit is not used for a while, an orange-brown rust layer may form on the mouthpiece. Simply remove this by wiping the bit with a damp cloth.

Sweet Iron bits are suitable for all horses. Sweet Iron helps the horse to salivate more, which will encourage a better acceptance of the bit.

The bit fulfils an important task in the communication between rider and horse. An ideal bit is a bit that the horse accepts and that allows the rider to communicate optimally with the horse. But there is not one bit which all horses accept.

Every horse and rider has different needs and it is important to meet these needs. TRUST equestrian has a wide collection of bits that can meet these needs.
